Burns Night at WYC

Saturday 25th January is Burns Night! Last year we celebrated it with Haggis, neaps, tatties and ‘a wee dram of Scotch’. It was a great success and very popular - even better the price remains the same - ONLY £6!! Remarkable. Come and join us. There’s a booking list behind the bar so please get you names down ASAP to avoid disappointment!
Looking forward to February? Six Nations Rugby is back - starting the 1st February. We have a guest ale and lager for only £2.50 a pint - WOW! £2.50 a pint on the guest drink is available on ALL MATCH DAYS. Watch the matches in the bar/sea room and enjoy some bargain ale/lager too. Brings your friends and make WYC the venue to watch the games!

The WYC Sailing Instructions for club races have been updated for 2020. The two changes made are to clarify that the entry for a series shall be the boat and one sailor, who must sail on the boat for every race as helm or crew to be awarded an entry for those races (rule 2.1), and that a boat shall not be awarded a prize unless it has started at least two races and finished at least one (rule 17.1). Margaret Winn

We are sorry to announce that Margaret Winn sadly passed away on Christmas morning following a short illness at the age of 89.  She was a long term member of the Yacht Club and was made an Honorary Member in 2010.  For many years she was the Minutes Secretary to the Sailing Committee, but she will best be remembered for her invaluable help in the Race Hut where she could be found each weekend recording the race results.  Her funeral service will be held at St Alphege Church, High Street, Whitstable, on Thursday 30th January at 1.30pm to which all are welcome, afterwards the family will attend a short service of committal at Barham Crematorium at 3.20pm to which anyone who would like to attend is also welcome. Donations in her memory to go to the Whitstable branch of the RNLI. Please send to John Kemp Funeral Service, 26 Harbour Street, Whitstable, CT5 1AH.
