Draft 2021 Sailing Schedule

In our original 2020 schedule we had the annual Meeting of Sailors planned for this weekend. Sadly, with Lockdown 2, and the Coronavirus restrictions before and likely continuing after, we won’t be able to hold the meeting this year. However, as is traditional for this time of year, the DRAFT 2021 sailing schedule is now available to view here: 2021_Programme_Draft_v4.pdf
We’re planning a full schedule of club and open events for the 2021 season, starting in early March, and running until December. This will allow a level of flexibility based on the availability of a vaccine and/or continued Coronavirus related restrictions. I’m optimistic and hopeful that we’ll be able to run something resembling a ‘normal’ sailing schedule for next year!
If you have any suggestions or comments that you would have raised at the Meeting of Sailors, or about the draft schedule, please contact me or your Class Captain. Stay safe, and I hope to see you at the club or on the water soon!

Coronavirus update - Impact of latest restrictions on sailing

The latest guidance from the RYA and Sport England is that sailing, windsurfing and other watersports are permitted under the current lockdown restrictions, so long as you’re doing so:

  • on your own;
  • with the people you live with (your household);
  • with your support bubble; or
  • on your own and with one person from another household.

However, based on current guidance, as of 5th November all racing and supported sailing is cancelled until further notice. The club will not be able to provide support cover, and the club house, changing rooms and toilets are now closed until further notice. If you go onto the water, you do so at your own risk. All members should take notice and follow current government advice and restrictions and ensure that they follow Safety Advice for Free Sailing and Watersports ( if they go on the water.

Impact of the latest restrictions

In line with the latest government announcements the bar will be closed from Thursday November 5th. The clubhouse, changing rooms and Lower Rigden shed will also be closed from November 5th, apart from those who require access to work within the premises. Members requiring access to their lockers should do so before the planned closure. The Stroud and Upper Rigden sheds can continue to be accessed, please remember to use the hand sanitisers prior to entry.
We await further guidance from the RYA on sailing and windsurfing activities, this is expected on Wednesday when a further update will be issued.
