10th & 11th July 2025 (Adult)
RYA Day Sailing Course
This 2 day course will include passage planning and decision making for taking a day sail in a dinghy. Preparing and planning for a day sail, including pilotage.
Required experience: Sailing skills to the standard of the Level 3 Better Sailing or Stage 4

26th & 27th June 2025 (Adult) 21st & 22nd August (Youth)
RYA Seamanship Skills Course
This 2 day course will improve your boat handling and manouevering ability in a range of different circumstances and develop the seamanship skills needed to solve problems afloat. Including, launching and recovering the boat in different circumstances. Stopping, reducing sail, recovering a man overboard, picking up a mooring and anchoring.
Required experience: Sailing skills to the standard of the Level 3 Better Sailing or Stage 4

7th & 8th August 2025 (Youth)
RYA Spinnakers Course
Sailing with spinnakers will give you the understanding of how to use boats with 3 sails. Including rigging, and sailing with a spinnaker. After the course you will have the confidence and skills to sail in a 3 sailed boat.

RYA Start Racing
Having learnt to sail you may wish to start racing and join a club. This course takes you through the fundamentals of getting off the start line and round the course, introducing the basic skills needed to enter your first race or have fun with friends.
Required experience: Sailing and knowledge to at least the standard of the Level 2 course or Stage 3 in the Youth Sailing Scheme

RYA First Aid Course
This 1 day course covers the following:
The recovery position in a confined space, CPR, including the drowning protocol, cold shock and hypothermia fromimmersion and/or exposure, seasickness and dehydration, medical assistance or advice by VHF, helicopter rescue.

RYA Safety Boat Course
This two-day course provides the skills required when acting as an escort craft, safety boat or coach boat for a fleet of dinghies, windsurfers or canoes, or for racing or training activities. It includes rescue techniques and elements of race management and mark laying. It is strongly recommended that a member of the rescue crew should hold a first aid certificate (or should have experience of first aid).
Required experience: Should have a basic understanding of sailing boats and windsurfers. RYA Powerboat Level 2 certificate must be held prior to this course. Minimum age of 16.

RYA Dingy Instructor Pre-Assessment
A pre-course assessment for a dinghy instructor course.
Candidates should be able to complete tasks such as those listed below, sailing at all times with an awareness of the ‘five essentials’, and confirming they can sail in a controlled and confident manner, showing consideration for preparation, communication, approach and execution, at all times.
During the assessment the candidate will be asked to complete the following:
- Sail around a triangular course
- Sail a tight circular course around a stationary boat
- Sail a ‘follow my leader’ course behind another boat.
- Pick up a man overboard dummy.
The candidate may also be asked to complete some of the following:
- Sail without a rudder, around a triangular course.
- Lee shore landing and departure
- Anchor or pick up a mooring
- Come alongside a moored boat
- Recover a capsized dinghy

RYA Dinghy Instructor Course
Normally a 5 day week. Training in teaching techniques afloat and ashore is provided during the course.
Run by an RYA Coach/Assessor and moderated on the final day by another RYA Coach/Assessor who has not been involved in the candidate’s training.
Candidates will be required to demonstrate competence in course preparation, delivery and management, as well as customer liaison.
