As it is not possible to roster race officers and recorders for Wednesday evening racing, volunteers are required to carry out these duties. There is a list on the noticeboard in the club giving the dates of the racing. If you are able to help, please put your name on the list.

New Asia Pacific Champion

Congratulations to Max Hunt for becoming the "Asia Pacific Masters Radial Master Champion". He won the event in Thailand earlier this month. Well done Max!

Congratulations to Whitstable Mirrors

Three Whitstable Mirrors won the "Kent Travellers Mirror Team Trophy" at the Mirror Nationwide Open Meeting at Chipsted Sailing Club last weekend. This was the first time that any Whitstable Mirrors have ever won the team trophy which started in 1977.

The Whitstable team consisted of Meia and Elin Harnett, Mali Harnett and Isabelle Bruton and Drystan Harnett and Midge Watkins. Well done to the team.

2010 Sailing Programme now on line

The 2010 sailing programme, together with the duty roster, is now on this site in the racing section. The programme booklet is with the printers and will be sent to members in due course.

Thanks for your help

Thanks to all those who turned out to move boats and trailers from the harbourmaster's compound on the West Quay. Boats have been moved to our part of the quay and trailers have been put in the Chalet Park.

Well done the Whitstable Musto team

Congratulations to Andy Peake and Graham Oliver who finished second and fourth respectively at the Musto Skiff European Championships at Lake Garda. And well done to Francis Stileman who was the oldest competitor in the 74 boat fleet and finished all 12 races.

Well done Christian - again

Last year we wrote: "Congratulations to Christian Brewer who, crewing for former Whitstable member Stuart Jardine, has just won the XOD Captains Cup in Cowes Week from a fleet of 80 boats over 8 days of racing. This is the sixth time Christian has won it with Stuart, and its Stuart's seventh win."
Well - they have done it again, in another 80 boat fleet. Two years in a row and a seventh championship win for Christian and an eighth for Stuart. How impressive is that.

Newsletter is On Line

There is now a link to the latest WYC newsletter on the home page of the website... and a new newsletter! It will be posted in the usual way to those sans e-mail.

Rot of Ages

The scran bins are clean and free of rotting underwear. Useable clothing has been hung up to air. Everything disgusting is in the bin. Clothes hanging in the ladies' fire exit lobby will be binned after the end of June if not claimed. So will the paired-up footwear on the gents' outside steps. Good stuff from the gents' is in the wooden box under the tea bar stairs.

More Whitstable success

Congratulations to Will Lowes, crewed by Hugo Tucker, who finished 5th from a fleet of over 70 at the Feva nationals at Weymouth over the weekend. Also to Mark Barnes and Tom Pygall (standing in at the last minute for an injured Pete Nicholson) who were 6th at the B14 nationals at Plymouth. Well done boys!

Stunning win for Sophie

Sophie Mackley, sailing with Jo Richards, won the National 12 championships at Thorpe Bay over the Bank Holiday weekend. Sailing a revolutionary new design by Jo (his first since 1981) they had 6 firsts and a second in a 70 plus boat fleet, including winning the prestigious Burton Cup.

Congratulations to Meia and Elin at the Eric Twiname Trophy

The Mirror fleet enjoyed some great sailing at Eric Twiname on day one, with four close races in moderate breezes, with occasional gusts over 20 knots. With no wind and no racing on Day 2, the championships were settled over four races. Harnett sisters, Meia and Elin took home the ET Trophy, with Peter Sedgwick and Ewan Byers second, Helena Pugh and Liam Angrave taking the final podium position. This was also the first qualifier for the RYA National Squad, which saw current members Tom Lovesey and Milly Pugh, battling hard with Alex Lloyd and Jack Moore, both winning two races, with the former pair winning on count back, with Meia & Elin Harnett finishing an excellent third ahead of several National Squad boats.(Extracted from the Mirror class website)

Sale of boats

There are a number of boats in the Chalet Park for which outstanding boat parking fees have not been paid. These boats will be sold in accordance with guidelines set out by the RYA. For further details see the notice board in the Sea Room.
